Irby Campbell Sr. was born and raised in Earle, Arkansas. In his 82 years of life, Irby was a Doctor of Motors for General Motors, a Fire Chief for the Earle Fire Department, and in 1966 he pursued his true passion of being a welder. Irby worked alone in his shop until his reputation of providing high quality welding services brought in too much work to handle by himself. Campbell Welding & Machine Shop employed 5 certified welders by the time Irby had retired and sold the business to his son, Brad Campbell.
My father, Irby Campbell, Sr., started the business in 1966. He was well-known and respected in the Mid-South for his knowledge in the welding field. I started working at the welding shop summers in 1985. After high school, I attended Arkansas State University while working during the summers at the shop. After graduation I returned to work in the family business full-time in 1991. My goal has always been to produce the best quality product for our customers.
